Hey Everybody. You have survived another week, and it is time to reward yourself with memes, this weekend’s knife shows, and a knife giveaway, courtesy of CRKT.
I wasn’t sure what tonight’s theme was going to be, until I came across a couple of these, then started going looking for more.
They were not hard to find.

Kids went back to school this week, which is probably a good thing since I have 2 bylined articles to write, as well as start working on this month’s Knife News column.

For tonight’s musical guest, I present the Cowboy Junkies.
Both songs I chose tonight are from the Trinity Session, their second album, which was recorded at Toronto’s Church of the Holy Trinity in 1987. I am not quite sure how they came up in conversation around the office yesterday, but Katie had never even heard of them. Mark mentioned that their version of Sweet Jane blows Lou Reed’s out of the water, an opinion that I independently held. As WEB Griffin said, “The mark of another man’s genius is how much you agree with him”.
Yusuf Dikeç was the theme of last week’s WOT. Given the nature of the meme above, it is worth mentioning that his Silver was in MIXED doubles, and Şevval İlayda Tarhan, his partner deserves a mention and recognition, even if she isn’t as memeable.
Kudos.
How many of you shot at the laughing dog?
The Chinese gymnast is only 15, and new to international competition. The Italians, are both veterans, and much less sheltered.
Technically, the 1500m freestyle would be a better picture (this was the 800m) because the same 3 swimmers swapped places, with American Bobby Finke taking gold. I didn’t come up with the joke, but I made the meme. I just couldn’t find the image from the 1500m.
I didn’t make the rules. Somewhat related, Lebron James should have married for genetics instead of his small-statured highschool sweetheart.
This blew my mind. Carl Lewis was one of the Olympians of my childhood.
Yikes.

It looks like it is going to be another week before we have a winner. Zach S. came in with some last minute comments and is our latest token holder.

I have taken a short part of every WOT since October 7th to voice my support for the State of Israel in its fight against Hamas. There is no moral equivalence between a pluralistic liberal democracy and a genocidal islamofascist terror group, funded by Iran, and dedicated to the eradication of said democracy.
I am appalled by a western media that tries to make such an equivalence. And now we are a whisker away from a full blown second front in the north against Hezbollah. I pray for Israel, and support it doing what it must to ensure the safety of all its citizens, Jew, Christian, Muslim, Druze, and more. I look forward to the day that I can retire this part of the post, but I will not until the Hostages have been returned, and Israel declares the operation in Gaza to be finished.
Until then, I will listen to good music…
