Episode 1 Season 2 of “Jason the Butcher” premieres this coming Monday, September 28, at 9:30 p.m. ET on Outdoor Channel, and Host Jason Nauert will be joining a retired Navy SEAL to hunt free-ranging axis deer in the challenging volcanic island terrain of Maui in the Hawaiian archipelago. Born and raised in Colorado’s “City Above the Clouds,” (Woodland Park, CO), Founder of the Rocky Mountain Institute of Meat, and author of the “Combat Sustainability Course,” a program designed to train military personnel field butchery methods, survival food processing and resource-use under austere conditions, Nauert excels at sharing his priceless know-how with military veterans, first responders and outdoors enthusiasts.
Every episode of Jason the Butcher takes viewers on an action-packed journey, tackling a wide variety of challenges in the field and teaching the skills – often with historical context – that are needed to survive. In Season 1, Nauert took on cold weather training with the Army’s best in Montana’s high country, he taught hunting and tracking skills to combat vets in West Texas, he shared high-speed pursuit and nighttime maneuver techniques, showcased bushcraft with instructors from Survival University, applied a potential drone-defense technique in Nevada’s desert, participated in the Army’s Best Ranger Competition, and explained combat food logistics to Civil War reenactors at North Carolina’s Bentonville Battlefield. - Surviving Colorado – Back in his home state’s mountains, Jason hunts solo for squirrel while the instructors from Survival University demonstrate hands-on lessons in the skills that keep you alive in the wild.
- Do Good Ranch – Jason joins his closest friend, a retired Green Beret, for an elk hunt at a ranch dedicated to healing veterans through nature, where the land itself is part of the therapy.
- Shot in the Dark – An evening feral pig hunt in Georgia goes thermal. Then Jason meets up with some of the sharpest shooters on the planet!
- Infantry Week – Jason becomes the first civilian to design and run a challenge lane at the Army Best Ranger Competition, earning rare, behind-the-scenes access to one of the military’s most demanding events.
