The U.S. Military Academy at West Point Combat Weapons team recently won its fourth consecutive SIG Relentless Warrior Championship. The team won the 2024 crown, topping a field made up of the elite military academies from across the country.
West Point Wins 2024 SIG Relentless Warrior Championship
The event comprised 113 cadets from the United States Air Force Academy, United States Naval Academy, United States Coast Guard Academy, United States Military Academy at West Point, Norwich University, Texas A & M, The Citadel, Virginia Military Institute, Virginia Tech, the Royal Military College of Canada, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The shooting competition took place at the SIG SAUER Academy in Epping, New Hampshire followed by an award banquet featuring Medal of Honor recipient Sergeant Major Thomas P. Payne as the guest speaker.
The course of fire consisted of six mission stages that tested the marksmanship and leadership skills of these future military leaders. For the fourth year in a row, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point Combat Weapons Team defended their title to earn the honor of 2024 SIG Relentless Warrior Champion.
West Point Dominant Again
“We embarked on this season with the unwavering SIG Relentless Warrior ethos at our core, committing every day to excellence—in leadership, marksmanship, and strategy,” exclaimed Gary Salman, Head Coach, ARMY West Point Combat Weapons Team. “From their first day, our cadets dive deeply into the complexities of firearms, mastering everything from the fundamentals of marksmanship to the intricacies of tactical and competitive shooting. The SIG Relentless Warrior Championship stands as the premier competitive shooting championship for nearly 100 future American military leaders. The event features cadets from U.S. military academies and other institutions. Our cameras captured the competition at the event in 2019 (seen above).

The SIG Relentless Warrior Championship
Cadets from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point took the title last year. They faced competition from the United States Air Force Academy, Naval Academy, Coast Guard Academy, Virginia Military Institute, Texas A&M and the Merchant Marine Academy.
The 2020 event planned to feature Team SIG Members. Competitive shooters Max Michel, Lena Miculek and Daniel Horner would serve as honorary match safety officers. Then SIG planned shooting clinics and demonstrations for the match participants.
However, due to the continued progression of COVID-19, SIG cancelled the competition on March 16. SIG announced it planned to resume the competition in 2021.
