Carjacking Thwarted By Armed Citizen Who Shot Suspect Multiple Times

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — Early Friday morning in New Orleans’ Plum Orchard neighborhood, a carjacking attempt was thwarted when the intended victim shot the assailant. The incident occurred on the 7300 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

The assailant, identified as 23-year-old Johnathan Edwards, demanded the driver exit the vehicle. In response, the driver shot Edwards multiple times. Authorities were alerted to the shooting at 2:01 a.m. Edwards was taken to the hospital, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

The New Orleans Police Department has not disclosed further details about the event.
