Breaking: Navy Pier Shelter-in-Place After Double Shooting

Two individuals were critically injured in a shooting at Chicago’s Navy Pier on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a large police response and a shelter-in-place order. The victims were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital while Chicago police continued investigating the scene.

CHICAGO, IL (2-minute read) — Two people sustained critical injuries following a shooting incident at Chicago’s popular Navy Pier on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Chicago Fire Department (CFD). The shooting took place on the north side of the pier, close to the parking garage, drawing a swift and large response from Chicago police.

Around 2 p.m., officers in tactical gear were spotted arriving in the area as they assessed the scene and attended to the incident. Emergency medical services promptly transported the injured male victims to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Navy Pier officials, at approximately 2:30 p.m., issued a shelter-in-place advisory to anyone at the pier, a popular tourist attraction on Lake Michigan’s shoreline. This directive remained in place until further notice, as police conducted their investigation.

At this time, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) has not released specific details about the cause of the shooting, nor have they confirmed whether any suspects are in custody. As investigations continue, police are focusing on gathering information about what led to the violence at this major city landmark.

Navy Pier, a well-known destination for both locals and visitors, often attracts large crowds, especially during afternoon and evening hours.

Safety Tip: In public places, always remain aware of your surroundings and identify exits in case of emergencies. Be prepared to follow instructions from security or law enforcement, especially if an unexpected incident occurs.
