Active Shooter Closes I-75 Near London, KY, Police Search For Suspect

Interstate 75 has been closed near London, KY, following reports of an active shooter, with law enforcement confirming multiple victims. Police have secured the area and are investigating.


UPDATE @ 08:49PM EST: According to police scanner chatter, the suspect purchased an AR-15 and 2,000 rounds of ammunition earlier in the day.

LAUREL COUNTY, KY (1-minute read) — Authorities in Laurel County, Kentucky, have shut down Interstate 75 following reports of an active shooter. The incident occurred approximately nine miles north of London, KY, leading to the closure of I-75 at Exit 49 U.S. 25 in both directions. The closure was first announced by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post at around 6:40 p.m. on Saturday evening.

According to law enforcement, multiple people have been shot in the vicinity of I-75, prompting an immediate and extensive emergency response. While the exact number of victims has not been confirmed, authorities have stressed that the situation is ongoing, and the area remains under lockdown as they continue to secure the scene and investigate.
