Debrie is junior high champion at Cornhusker Trap Shoot

Barrett Debrie of the Smile City 4-H club in Gibbon, Nebraska, broke 99 of 100 targets on Thursday, April 30, to win the junior high competition of the 56th Cornhusker Trap Shoot in Doniphan.

Debrie’s score shooting targets at 16 yards at the Nebraska Trapshooting Association home grounds was four better than he shot last year, when he finished runner-up.

A Fairbury squad of Wylee Hinman, Eli Sinn, Kedan Gasper, Owen Schmidt and Easton Lucking won the overall team title with a 457 of a possible 500.

Wilber 5 Clovers won the 4-H team competition with Bentley Myers, Thad Niles, Gavin Pospisil, Alex Hinkle, and Jacob Kokout.

Aurora Crooked Creek won the ladies’ team title with Emily Ronnau, Eden Ochsner, Quinn Stark, Emery Scott, and Asher Regier.

Tailyn Slama of Wilber 5 Clovers 4-H shot a 96 to win the ladies’ individual title. Her squad that included Taylor Niles, Brynlee Burns, Vera Schwisow, and Katherine Krivohlavek won the ladies’ 4-H team title.

On Friday, May 1, senior high students shot 75 rounds of 16-yard targets. They will shoot 75 handicap targets Saturday, May 2, and the combined scores of the two days will determine the overall champion, the Cornhusker Cup winner.
