In 2019, Maxim Defense introduced its short and maneuverable PDX short-barreled PDW, followed one year later by the PDX-SD. The PDX-SD expanded on the original platform by adding an integrated suppressor while maintaining stealthy, close-quarters handling. However, although the original PDX came in 5.56 NATO, 7.62x39mm, and .300 BLK, the PDX-SD was only available in 5.56 NATO. Until now. Maxim Defense has recently expanded the chamberings of the PDX-SD to include 7.62x39mm and .300BLK.
The Maxim Defense PDX-SD Personal Defense Weapon
Measuring an overall 23.75 inches, the PDX-SD maintains a powerful, convenient, and compact package. The pistol features meticulous attention to detail, maintaining a perfect balance between form and function. Specifically designed for compactness, the PDX-SD features an integrated suppressor for a finely tuned, harmonious gas system.
However, it is not “integrated” in the truest sense of the word but is built as a symbiotic integrated system. As a result, this allows for removal, facilitating efficient maintenance, easy upgrades, and replacements. Likewise, the system strikes a relationship between the pistol and the suppressor to remain quiet and balanced while reducing gas in the face.
The PDX-SD and suppressor are considered “integrated” because the suppressor is designed specifically for the pistol, and vice versa. Dubbed the “soup can,” the suppressor has a large outer diameter of 2.25 inches. As a result, it significantly reduces noise and gas emissions, according to the company.
Upon its original release, the PDX-SD was only available in 5.56 NATO. However, Maxim Defense has just released the compact blaster in 7.62x39mm and .300 BLK. So, shooters can now take full advantage of the harmoniously suppressed system.
In addition, the platform is available in your choice of Black, Arid Brown, or Urban Grey colorways.
