First Look: Kratos Design Group Angled QD Mount & Handstop

Texas-based Kratos Design Group has recently launched a wave of practical add-ons and accessories for M-Lok-pattern handguards, including the new Angled QD Mounts for modern tactical two-point slings that use push-button QD (quick detach) sling hardware.

The new sling mount from Kratros works like any QD mount meant for the front portion of a tactical two-point sling. Unlike traditional QD mounts that have their sockets facing 90 degrees, the socket on the new Kratos Design Group sits at an angle relative to the M-Lok handguard itself. The idea is to keep the forward part of the carbine’s sling better aligned to the firearm as it’s slung over the shooter’s shoulder or when they’re working with the sling while shooting. This accessory is made from 4140 steel that has a tensile strength of 95,000 psi and weighs only one ounce.

Installation is straightforward and only requires a 5/32 Allen wrench to tighten and clamp down the Angled QD Mount on any M-Lok handguard. In addition to the supplied hardware and pieces, the exterior of the Angled QD Mount is finished with a durable black nitride finish. Out of convenience, the fastening screws already come “aligned” for M-Lok installation and includes thread-locking compound out of the packaging. All one needs to install one of these into a slot of an M-Lok handguard is to remove it from the packaging, line up the hardware correctly and then tighten with a 5/32 bit of Allen key until it’s solidly snug but being careful to avoid excessive torque.

The Kratos Design Group Angled QD Mount has an MSRP of $41.99. To learn more about this new accessory and other products from Kratos Design Group, please visit the company’s website at kratosdesigngroup.com.
