Tobacco Store Owner Shoots Robber Dead, 2 Others Arrested

A Norwalk tobacco store owner shot a burglary suspect in self-defense during an attempted break-in, leading to the suspect’s death. Two other suspects were later captured by authorities.

NORWALK, CA (3-minute read) — A business owner in Norwalk, California, opened fire on three burglary suspects targeting his tobacco store on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. in the 10900 block of East Firestone Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The store owner’s partner was pepper-sprayed by one of the suspects, prompting the owner to grab his firearm and shoot, hitting one of the intruders.

After their getaway car was blocked in, all three suspects fled on foot. The suspect who was shot was found in a nearby alleyway. He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries, according to the sheriff’s department. His identity has not been released.

Authorities set up a perimeter in the neighborhood to capture the remaining suspects. Both were located and taken into custody shortly after.

Having a firearm as a means of self-defense is becoming more and more crucial, as citizens seem to be coming under attack on a more frequent basis. Understanding the importance of being prepared to defend yourself cannot be ignored.

Safety Tip: Regularly practice and stay updated on proper firearm handling and safety protocols to ensure responsible and effective use in self-defense situations.
