Suspect Fatally Shot While Trying To Rob People In Their Backyard; Police

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA — The Sacramento Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday evening in the Woodbine neighborhood of south Sacramento, which resulted in the death of a 38-year-old man.

Responding to reports just before 6 p.m. at a residence on the 6900 block of 27th Street, officers found the suspect with multiple gunshot wounds, unresponsive, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until his family is notified.

Initial reports suggest the incident began when the man attempted a robbery in a backyard and was subsequently shot by one of the individuals he was trying to rob. Although witnesses were present, police have yet to make any arrests or release suspect information.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the police at 916-808-5471 or the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357, where they can remain anonymous and might be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
