The incident began around 9:38 p.m. when police were dispatched to Whyte Hardee Boulevard following reports that a suspect was threatening a driver at gunpoint, trying to force them from their vehicle. Witnesses then saw the suspect flee the scene.

Shortly after the initial call, officers responding to the area heard gunfire near 20750 Whyte Hardee Blvd. When they arrived, they found two men, one of whom had been shot.
