Missouri Gun Store Closes Permanently Following Devastating Burglary

LIBERTY, MO — Just weeks after celebrating their third anniversary, Adventure Outdoors, a popular gun store in downtown Liberty, has been forced to close its doors permanently following a brazen burglary that left the owners devastated and unable to recover.

The incident, which took place less than a month ago, involved thieves ramming a stolen vehicle through the front doors of the store, making off with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of firearms in under two minutes. The bold crime was caught on surveillance footage, which has since been widely circulated in local media.

Heidi and Daniel Mull, the husband-and-wife team behind Adventure Outdoors, were heartbroken as they recounted the impact of the burglary on their business and family. “I’m still just mad. I don’t see how somebody else’s action gets to deter our dream,” Heidi Mull shared, expressing the frustration and anger that has come to define the past few weeks for the couple.

The Mulls had built their business with the goal of creating not just a store but a family-oriented experience, teaching their children valuable lessons about entrepreneurship. “We were celebrating our third year, we were two weeks into our third anniversary, and everything was fantastic, and now everything is just gone,” Daniel Mull said, describing the stark contrast between the store’s recent success and its sudden demise.

Despite their determination to keep the business afloat, the financial strain proved insurmountable. The couple found themselves in a battle with their insurance company, unable to restock the stolen inventory or cover the ongoing costs of rent and utilities. With no viable path forward, they made the difficult decision to close the store for good.

However, the Mulls have not completely ruled out the possibility of reopening in the future. “We would. If the finances were there, we would do it right now. We’re not going to let some kid put us out because they made a stupid mistake,” Daniel Mull stated, holding onto a sliver of hope amid the disappointment.

As for the suspects, two juveniles have been identified by police and federal authorities as the culprits behind the burglary. One of them is currently in custody, awaiting a court decision on whether he will be tried as an adult. The other suspect remains at large, with a warrant issued for his arrest after he fled following his initial release pending DNA results.

Before officially closing the store on Wednesday, the Mulls are fulfilling the last of their outstanding orders. Their parting message to the community is a plea to “support small businesses,” a reminder of the fragile nature of dreams built through hard work and dedication.
