Louisiana Governor Signs Constitutional Carry Bill, Will Go Into Effect On 4th Of July

Louisiana has become the 28th state to allow its citizens to carry concealed firearms without a permit, as Republican Governor Jeff Landry signed Senate Bill 1. This new law permits residents aged 18 and above to carry a concealed handgun without needing a permit.

Governor Landry, emphasizing the importance of this law, stated that it upholds the liberty of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families without governmental interference. He acknowledged the efforts of the National Rifle Association (NRA) members in Louisiana for their role in this achievement.

The bill, strongly supported by the NRA and authored by Republican Senator Blake Miguez, is seen by Landry as a significant step towards liberty. Miguez also highlighted this development as a pivotal moment in the pursuit of freedom.
