Flying with Guns: Episode 52 – SW from Las Vegas to New Orleans – USA Carry

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Episode 52 was filmed April 8th, flying Southwest from Las Vegas to New Orleans. Another smooth one, start to finish.

Check-In at LAS

I walked up and told the agent I was declaring firearms. My usual setup — Condition 1 hard-sided case inside a regular piece of luggage. When she opened it up, she got a look at how much space the case takes up and laughed.

She almost ran into a little trouble of her own — her supervisor came by checking for name tags and she didn’t appear to have one. Turned out it was on her shirt under her sweater, so she was fine.

She could tell I’d done this before. She asked where to send me, and I told her — go wait at the flagpole for 15 minutes. That’s my usual rule regardless of whether the agent asks or not. They didn’t come out, so I headed through security.

More from USA Carry:

Arrival in New Orleans

My bag came out on the carousel at MSY, same as always — that’s what usually happens when the case is packed inside a regular piece of luggage rather than checked on its own. I opened it up, confirmed the locks were intact, and was on my way.

Final Thoughts

Fifty-two episodes in and the process stays the same. Declare, wait, pick up the bag. That’s it.
