Give freedom a chance and America takes wing. Leftists in corporate America – especially high tech, alternate energy, media, social media – were all for Marxism, liked how it twisted profits their way, won subsidies from Biden-Harris for what markets reject (i.e. electric cars, Orwellian windmills, felling forests for solar panels). Now, they are now pulling a high-G 180.
After pushing reckless political correctness, liberty-killing mandates, and overspending that produced higher inflation, interest, debt, and control, the corporate titans – and foreign leaders – are suddenly twisting themselves in knots, dumping Critical Race Theory (CRT), Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Environmental Social and Governance (ESG). Hypocrisy is hard to hide.
Across formerly woke corporate boardrooms, these giants are not even saying “goodbye” to Hollywood’s anti-Trumpers, many weeping in foreign lands, but swiftly rediscovering their love of capitalism, less regulated markets, freer speech, old America. Elections are something.
From Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong to Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, many of the big money titans have found religion, and are quickly visiting Trump, showing they actually never cared much for Marxism, just liked free money and silencing critics.
Well, “Morning in America” seems to be dawning. Outlets like the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and Newsweek are reporting the shift, the Journal running “Corporate America Launches Unorthodox Campaign to Gain Trump’s Attention,” while Newsweek finally admits “From Walmart to Toyota: Major Companies Rolling Back DEI Policies.” Marxism is, after all, a big, bad joke.
What surprises this longtime observer of politics is not that liberal corporate leaders are doing this 180, walking away from Marxist, anti-American Dream notions, but how fast the transition is occurring. The sea change is, of course, refreshing. It is also revealing; integrity is rare.
Most remarkable may be the obvious: We Americans have a natural attraction to capitalism, mixing hard work and original ideas for outcomes, a historic commitment to giving each citizen a fair shot at “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
Put differently, capitalism is naturally appealing to those with ideas who are ready to work for them and want to get ahead. It sits well with most Americans, across every demographic, size of company, and geography, and with any individual willing to dream, believe, and work hard for their dream.
The core idea – as proven by America’s stunning history – is that economic freedom beats the opposite every time because we love creativity, invention, risk-taking, hard work, and the resulting growth. Capitalism works whenever a society gives it a go, and lets the people pursue prosperity.
Bottom line. Where Marxists, and many skirts the label but deserve it, think we have one pie and they should divide it up as they wish, capitalists believe creating wealth is what economic freedom is all about. Turns out, the believers in capitalism are right, and many who were silent knew it all along.
What most seem to intuitively know is, that freedom brings prosperity, and big government clips prosperity’s wings, even cages it. The bird is suddenly uncaged, Marxist waysare fast being dumped, and even the corporate liberals know what the future holds. Give freedom a chance, and America takes wing. Give freedom a chance, and America takes wing. Go Freedom!
