Chicopee Fatal Shooting During Store Robbery Attempt Claims Robber’s Life

CHICOPEE, MA (2-minute read) – A fatal incident occurred at a Chicopee convenience store Thursday evening when an attempted robbery led to gunfire, resulting in one man’s death, confirmed by the Hampden District Attorney’s office.

Robert Papalardo, aged 53, succumbed to injuries at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after being involved in a shooting during the robbery attempt around 6:30 p.m. at a shop located on the 1200 block of Montgomery Street. Upon arrival, Chicopee Police, assisted by Massachusetts State Police and the Hampden DA’s Murder Unit, found two men at the scene, one of whom was Papalardo, suffering from a gunshot wound.

The ongoing investigation suggests that Papalardo allegedly tried to rob the store when the shooting occurred. Authorities are diligently working to piece together the events that led to this outcome.
