YORK COUNTY, PA (3-minute read) — In a tragic turn of events Wednesday afternoon, a shooting in North Codorus Township, York County, left three law enforcement officers dead and two others seriously injured. According to Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Col. Christopher Paris, the suspected shooter was also killed during the violent exchange.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the shooter or the fallen officers, but the incident quickly drew attention from state and federal agencies. The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are assisting with the investigation.

Gov. Josh Shapiro and Attorney General Dave Sunday confirmed via social media they were en route to the scene. Their presence reflects the seriousness of the situation, as does the swift response from multiple law enforcement agencies across the state.

WellSpan York Hospital confirmed it is treating two individuals related to the incident, both reported to be in serious condition. The hospital has implemented enhanced security protocols to ensure the safety of patients and staff during this developing situation.

Attorney General Pam Bondi expressed strong condemnation of the attack, calling it a “scourge on our society” and urging the public to pray for the affected officers and their families. FBI Director Kash Patel also offered condolences, saying, “Our prayers are with the officers, their families, and the entire York County community.”

The Spring Grove School District was placed under a temporary shelter-in-place order, which was lifted shortly after 4 p.m. The district clarified that no students or staff were directly involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia acknowledged the event on social media, urging Mexican nationals in the area to follow official updates. It remains unclear what, if any, connection the shooter or victims may have had to the Mexican community.

Investigations are ongoing, and updates are expected from Pennsylvania State Police and other involved agencies as more details emerge.

Safety Tip: Always remain situationally aware, especially in high-stress environments. Whether you are a law enforcement officer or a legally armed citizen, training regularly and understanding your surroundings can be the difference between life and death.
