Weekend Open Thread: Suitable for Work Edition

0 19

Hey All. It is Friday. If you are someone who is plugged into memes, then you would know that the obvious theme from the week would be my fellow Tennessean, “Hawk Tuah Girl” were it not completely inappropriate for these pages. If you have no idea what I am talking about, you can google it, but not if there are kids around.

The passing of the legendary Donald Sutherland was obviously newsworthy, but there are not too many memes featuring him,

Aside from this template from Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Throwback to the the Covid WOT days.

For the DnD fans…

I can’t remember the reason why you can’t do that.

I will give Oddball the last word…

Not any Knife Shows this weekend, or at least none that have been submitted to the KNIFE Magazine Events Calendar.

Next one listed is not until July 12th.

So we will move on to our musical selection…

I am a Meat Loaf fan in the sense that I was a Rocky Horror devotee in high school, and have some of his greatest hits in my music rotation. But not “Anything for love”, I am more of a “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” guy…

Ironically, it is borderline NSFW.  But they just don’t write songs like that anymore.

Indeed.

Some other memes that are on  the topical side, or throwback to recent WOT themes past…

We don’t do political memes here much as a general rule…

…unless it is to make fun of the politicians themselves. Which is a target rich environment.

Pandering knows no party. I am yet to see a politician by a grill who looks at all natural.

They should be more like Roger. Or Kermit.

I am firmly convinced that these nutjobs are funded by the Oil Companies…

There are no better poster children than the tantrum throwing environmentalists, to sour folks on their movement.

Throwback to a November WOT.

Orca Uprising was last month

What if you see Harmabe smoking?

A good way to start an argument.

I loved my Dakota, have been happy woth my Tacoma, and am trying to figure out what we are going to get not that my daughter will probably get the Subaru as her daily driver, and we need something bigger for family outings, now that m the shortest among us is 5’11”.

Another one to spark conversation in the comments…

Unfortunately, Zaxxon is not an option. I rocked at that game. And Spy Hunter was always a fave. I don’t remember ever seeing Pitfall in an arcade. I thought that was just Atari console.

Now that I have primed the figurative comment pump, it is time to give away a knife. The CRKT Drifter, which is drawn from last week’s comments. Steve T. is our winner. I am behind on mailing stuff out, I will endeavor to get caught up this week. Since he is local to me, I am hoping that Steve is still willing to come over one evening and help with the Native 5 Steel Comparison testing. I have almost cleaned my shop up enough to where it is presentable in the backdrop of any photos or videos we might shoot.

Next week, our prize is a second CRKT Forebear, by Darriel Caston

I didn’t realize there were two, and had to ask Mark R. if I still owed him his from a previous drawing. He won the first one, but his daughter-in-law apparently took a shine to it, and now she has a CRKT Forebear. Maybe he will win again and get one for himself.

Usual rules apply. Up to 5 comments or replies count as your entries, and if you are new to the blog, your comments count double. They will be held in moderation for the first go-round, until I have a chance to approve them. Please be patient, I will get to them.

Good Luck everyone.

Wait, they left out…

Not at all.

Finnish Wendigo.

Be ungovernable.

Someone had waaay too much time on their hands.

If you input 4011, you can have you funeral for the price of a banana.

Related…

A classic. Noir is a great genre.

I don’t remember if I have shared that one before. It is obviously a variation on a recurring theme.

In case you were wondering.

Wait, wut?

That is completely savage. I like it.

At least I am aging better than Picasso.

We still don’t deserve dogs.

Wow. It is parked next to Wonder Woman’s jet.

My childhood rocked.

I had a friend once who had his big toenails removed so he could fit in smaller rock climbing shoes. He was a bit psycho.

Or you could spit on it.

Seems safe enough.

I have no idea what I am doing.

Switching gears…

You can make all the excuses you like, but it boils down to this…

It is that simple.

Until such time as Israel can declare its operations against the genocidal Islamists that seek to annihilate it, I will continue to devote a small portion of this post to voice support for Israel. I look forward to retiring this section, but I will not abandon it.

Once again, our musical guest…

As I said, I was a regular at the Cedar/Lee Theater in High School for their midnight showings of RHPS. It was one of the few places that you could go late at night when you were underage. We’d hang out at a coffee shop, then head to the show as the latter was closing.

Now I spend my evenings in dark corners of the internet, gathering memes for you ungrateful creatures…

It is not a gentlemanly pursuit…

But it is necessary…

Because you all demand it…

I have tried to seek consul…

But I didn’t have a case…

So I will leave you with one more meme to discuss in the comments…

Have a good one everybody.
