You never know when the Buck of the Month will land, but the May 2024 model’s release date – the 4th – seems particularly auspicious. And this nefarious-looking, red and black version of the 112 Slim Pro TRX reminds us of someone, we just can’t quite put our finger on it…
Anyway, quick refresher course on the 112 Slim Pro TRX itself. This is a modernized version of the classic 112, little brother to the also classic 110 Folding Hunter. It takes the basic dimensions and concept of that knife, then brings it in line with modern EDC standards by slimming it down, swapping out the materials, adding one-hand deployment, and giving it a pocket clip. The resulting knife was similar but different, obviously part of the same family as its inspiration, but differentiated enough that both knives could exist as their own thing, neither replacing the other.
I am not a serious Buck Knives collector, though I have 3 119s, a couple 110s, and numerous others. Some of these Buck of the Months have been pretty neat. This one isn’t doing much for me.
