Where Timeless Design Meets Limitless Pursuit: Akkar USA’s Open Country Over/Under is Built for Upland Hunters

North Kansas City, MO (September 14, 2026) – Long miles, hard-flying birds, and split-second opportunities define upland hunting. The Akkar USA Open Country Series was built with those moments in mind. The Open Country combines classic over/under styling with field-ready performance for hunters chasing pheasants across open grasslands, flushing quail over pointing dogs, or working grouse through thick timber.

The Open Country balances traditional craftsmanship with modern performance. A beautifully engraved steel receiver and select Turkish walnut stock create a timeless appearance, while Akkar’s durable OxyCap finish helps protect the shotgun from the weather, brush, and wear that come with long days in the field.

Designed to shoulder naturally and swing smoothly, the Open Country is available in both 12-gauge and 20-gauge configurations with 28-inch barrels. Its balanced profile promotes quick, instinctive handling on fast-rising birds while providing the control needed for longer crossing shots. Whether carrying the lighter 20-gauge for quail or stepping up to the 12-gauge for late-season pheasants, hunters can choose the setup that best fits their pursuit.

A ventilated rib promotes a consistent sight picture, allowing hunters to stay focused on the bird instead of the shotgun.

Versatility is another hallmark of the Open Country. Five extended Mobil choke tubes allow hunters to tailor shot patterns for changing cover, varying shooting distances, and different upland species. Featuring the widely used Mobil thread pattern, the shotgun also accommodates a broad selection of aftermarket choke options for additional customization.

Automatic ejectors provide fast and reliable shell ejection after each shot, helping hunters reload quickly when another bird flushes unexpectedly. For shooters who prefer extractors, the Open Country can easily be converted by replacing a single component, offering added flexibility without sacrificing simplicity.

Every Open Country reflects Akkar’s commitment to quality manufacturing and dependable performance. Its engraved receiver, rich Turkish walnut stock, and durable OxyCap finish deliver a shotgun that looks as refined as it performs in the field. Backed by a 5-year limited warranty, the Open Country is built for upland hunters who appreciate classic styling and proven reliability season after season.
