Hunting, Racing, and Firefighting with Razor Dobbson the “Hunting Matters with Joe Betar” Podcast

Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) and the “Hunting Matters with Joe Betar” podcast welcomes Razor Dobbs.

Razor was the host of Razor Dobbs Alive Television series for nine years. He is best known for his pistol hunting prowess – hunting close to two hundred animals, including three Cape buffalo with a 10mm auto pistol.

As great of an experience the television show was, Razor believed there was more to life than hunting in front of the camera. So, in 2019 Razor decided to say goodbye to his sponsors and step away. Before the dust could settle on Razor’s television show, he was kicking up more dust in the desert – racing in some of the world’s most famous, treacherous off-road races – doing well but also finding himself in the hospital and ER on more than one occasion. Now, he has his sights on racing the world-famous Score International Baja 1000 which he will battle this November.

Razor has also been a volunteer firefighter for the past three years which he claims is the third best thing he has ever done. “Structure fires, wildfires, car wrecks, high water rescues, it’s never a dull moment and I get more satisfaction out of working and training with these truly amazing firefighters and being there, 24 hours a day, for the community.”

In the meantime, between racing and firefighting, Razor is writing a novel. He hopes – if he can let the dust settle long enough – he can finish it.

Razor and his wife Sylvia live on their ranch outside of Kerrville, TX with their standard poodle Blade. Razor still hunts with his 10mm auto and bow. He and Sylvia will be going on Safari in Africa in 2025.

Razor Dobbs was born in Kerrville, TX on the open day of hunting season – November 16, 1970
