Hunting Matters Podcast Welcomes Don Paullo and Chuck Johnson of the Spring Branch FFA Alumni Clay Crushers

(HOUSTON, TX – July 7, 2026) Houston Safari Club Foundation’s Hunting Matters podcast recently welcomed Don Paullo and Chuck Johnson, leaders and coaches of the Spring Branch FFA Alumni Clay Crushers, for a conversation about youth shooting sports, shotgun competition, firearm safety, and the important role these programs play in developing the next generation of hunters and conservation-minded leaders.

During the episode, Paullo and Johnson shared the story of the Clay Crushers and discussed how the team has grown into a successful youth shotgun program that introduces students to competitive clay target sports while emphasizing safety, discipline, sportsmanship, and personal growth. The discussion also explored the different youth shooting opportunities available in Texas, the disciplines in which the team competes, and how clay target sports help prepare young people for hunting and lifelong participation in the outdoors.

Paullo serves as an active coach with the Clay Crushers and is also Scoutmaster of the Boy Scout Troop at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. Johnson, who has helped lead the team for several years, is an avid sporting clays competitor, NSCA Level I instructor, and longtime supporter of youth shooting sports.
