Hobie® Eyewear Promotes Eye Health and UV Awareness on National Sunglasses Day – June 27

Oceanside, CA (June 27, 2025) – Hobie® Eyewear is proud to support National Sunglasses Day on June 27 by highlighting the critical role sunglasses play in protecting eyes—especially during outdoor and on-the-water activities where UV exposure is at its peak.

National Sunglasses Day, led by The Vision Council, encourages people to wear sunglasses that provide proper UV protection. Hobie® Eyewear is using the occasion to remind outdoor enthusiasts, anglers, surfers, and beachgoers that protecting your eyes is as important as protecting your skin. The brand proudly donated sunglasses to the Vision Council’s National Sunglasses Day Media and Influencer Event in New York City yesterday. This VIP showcase highlighted the latest styles while educating attendees on UV safety just in time for Summer.

“Whether you’re on the water fishing, paddling, or just spending time outdoors, polarized sunglasses are essential,” said Dylan Coates, Marketing Manager for Hobie® Eyewear. “They don’t just reduce glare—they shield your eyes from harmful UV rays that can lead to long-term damage.”

UV radiation is amplified on the water due to reflection, making sunglasses with proper lens technology critical for vision health and performance. Hobie® Eyewear’s polarized lenses are designed to cut glare, enhance clarity, and provide 100% UV protection. For anglers, this means spotting fish more easily beneath the surface. For boaters and beachgoers, it means sharper vision and reduced eye strain throughout the day.

Hobie® Eyewear also continues to invest in sustainability with innovations like its Hull Float collection—floating frames made from upcycled Hobie® kayak plastic. A portion of every Hull Float sale is donated to the FishAmerica Foundation to support habitat restoration and conservation efforts across the U.S. In conjunction with this partnership, Hobie® Eyewear will host a lake cleanup at Jordan Lake, NC, on June 29, joining Bassmaster Elite angler Carl Jocumsen’s #WorldWideLakeCleanUp initiative aimed at cleaning 100 lakes in one day.

“Our mission is simple: make high-performance, protective eyewear that allows people to stay out longer, see clearer, and protect their long-term vision,” Coates added. “National Sunglasses Day is the perfect opportunity to educate and inspire people to prioritize their eye health, especially when they’re out doing what they love.”
