Irving, TX – GSM Pro Drew Gill was victorious this past weekend at the 3rd stage of the Bass Pro Tour on Lake Murray. Citing a gameplan that involved Forward Facing Sonar in the morning and skipping docks in the later hours, Gill was able to claim his 2nd career BPT win.
“I felt like I had a precise gameplan,” said Gill, who caught his early fish on FFS with a 4-inch minnow. “I was catching suspended fish in the morning out deep and then spending the rest of the day skipping boat docks”.
Gill credited the Big Bite Baits Nekorama for all his dock bites. “The Nekorama, in Green Pumpkin/Black Flake, with a 1/16th oz nail weight was the ticket in the afternoon,” said Gill. “I was targeting floating docks in 5-8′ of water, knowing that I’d catch one every 3-4 docks. The sun helped the bite, even though it got tougher with clouds in the final round.”
With the win, Gill now sits in 2nd place in the BPT AOY rankings.
“My mentality has always been that if I’m consistently in the top 10, the wins will come,” admitted Gill. “Lake Murray is a fantastic fishery. Winning is rare, and I’m extremely grateful to be able to do it against the best.”
