Dr. Robert “Robbie” Kröger brings experience in federal restoration science and global wildlife conservation to national advisory role
WASHINGTON, Sept. 25, 2026 –– Dr. Robert “Robbie” Kröger, founder and executive director of The Origins Foundation, has been appointed by the U.S. Department of the Interior to the Hunting and Shooting Sports Conservation and Access Council.
Kröger will serve as a primary member representing wildlife-associated recreation interests. The federal advisory council provides recommendations through the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture on wildlife and habitat conservation, hunting and shooting sports, conservation partnerships and public access.
The appointment brings together Kröger’s experience in federal restoration, academic science and global wildlife conservation.
Prior to founding The Origins Foundation, Kröger served as the first chief scientist of the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council, helping establish the scientific framework guiding large-scale restoration following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. He also served as a professor in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture at Mississippi State University.
Today, Kröger leads The Origins Foundation, a global conservation organization supporting wildlife projects, research, sustainable-use initiatives and field partnerships around the world.

Kröger’s international conservation work provides another perspective for a council focused on the future of wildlife management and hunting in the United States, connecting lessons from conservation programs around the world with federal discussions at home.
The Department of the Interior announced the appointments Sept. 21 as part of the recently reestablished council.
