EVO™ Upgraded: The Strongest ChatterBait® Bladed Jig Ever Built

Z-Man® Engineers 40% Stronger Elite EVO™ HD for Heavy Cover, Braided Line, and Big-Fish Confidence

Ladson, SC (July 9, 2026) – In the world of bass fishing, few lures take a beating quite like a bladed jig. They’re ripped through hydrilla, bounced off dock pilings, snapped free from grass, and leaned on during the most chaotic seconds of a fight. Heavy rods, thick cover, hard hooksets, and locked‑down drags don’t forgive weakness, and neither do the anglers who fish that way.

It’s for those anglers that Z‑Man® built the new ChatterBait® Elite EVO™ HD (Heavy Duty), a bladed jig engineered to deliver under pressure when a single bite can change everything. The Elite EVO HD takes everything anglers love about the best-selling Elite EVO platform and reforges it into the strongest, most dependable, most tournament‑ready EVO yet.

EVO Performance, HD Power

Built on the proven Elite EVO foundation, the HD model raises the bar with a suite of structural upgrades designed for maximum strength and reliability. Like the original Elite EVO, the HD carries forward the premium finishes, refined styling, and performance that helped establish it as a staple among serious bass anglers. Wire‑tied silicone skirts, detailed paint schemes, oversized 3D eyes, and a mix of plated, painted, and glitter blade finishes give the HD the same high‑end look and fish‑triggering realism anglers already trust, now paired with a dramatically stronger chassis.

“The Elite EVO has quickly become one of the most trusted bladed jigs among both touring pros and weekend anglers,” says Jose Chavez, Director of Product Development at Z-Man. “We’re constantly looking for ways to improve and refine our ChatterBait bladed jig designs. With the Elite EVO HD, we wanted to build a tool anglers could fish without compromise, whether that means throwing heavy braided line, ripping through thick cover, or boat-flipping a giant bass without hesitation.”

The Elite EVO HD features a series of structural enhancements that meaningfully improve its strength and longevity:

  • Solid welded teardrop line tie for a fail‑proof connection point, replacing snap-style line ties that can bend or open under heavy pressure
  • Reinforced head‑to‑blade interface that resists torque and impact, eliminating the possibility of blade detachment
  • Custom super heavy-duty 5/0 nano‑coated hook built from premium high-strength wire to withstand braided‑line pressure
  • Upgraded hybrid molded split‑grip and double‑wire trailer keeper that locks soft plastics in place through repeated casts, skips, rips, and strikes

Even with these reinforcements, the lure maintains the instant startup and aggressive hunting action that made the original Elite EVO a favorite among serious anglers.

Tested to the Limit

Before earning the HD badge, the Elite EVO HD endured extensive lab and on‑the‑water punishment. Armed with heavy‑power rods and braided line, Z‑Man’s product development team boat‑flipped dozens of bass on a single lure, including multiple fish over seven pounds, without failure. Pull testing confirmed the Elite EVO HD is more than 40 percent stronger than the original Elite EVO, solidifying its place as the most durable and dependable ChatterBait bladed jig yet.

“As an Elite Series pro, I need gear I can trust when everything is on the line,” says Bassmaster Elite Series angler Patrick Walters. “The Elite EVO HD gives me the confidence to winch big fish out of heavy cover and put them straight in the boat. On my home waters at Santee Cooper, where a trophy bass could be hiding in any patch of grass, that’s a huge advantage. I joined the Z-Man family because they never stop pushing lure design forward, and the first time I fished the EVO HD, I knew it was something special.”

Offered in 3/8‑ and 1/2‑ounce sizes and 20 pro‑selected colors, including the new Tickled Pink, Copper Gill, and GP Melon patterns, the ChatterBait Elite EVO HD debuts at ICAST 2026 and will be available at retailers nationwide in Fall 2026 with an MSRP of $12.99.
