[Midwest / Kentucky] — January 2026 — Chasing Giants LLC, a leading hunting and land-management media organization, has announced a new partnership with Boone Brothers, a nonprofit using donated venison to address childhood food insecurity while supporting responsible deer herd management.
The partnership was announced on Chasing Giants Podcast Episode 306, where hosts Don Higgins and Terry Peer discussed how Boone Brothers provides a practical solution for hunters and land managers seeking ethical, meaningful ways to utilize harvested deer.
Solving a Real Problem for Hunters and Land Managers
Across much of the Midwest and Southeast, active deer herd management is essential for habitat health, agricultural balance, and long-term herd sustainability. While many hunters understand the biological need to harvest does, a common challenge remains: how to responsibly and meaningfully use excess venison.
Boone Brothers addresses this issue by partnering with wildlife agencies, processors, and schools to transform donated deer meat into Boone Bites—a shelf-stable, high-protein venison jerky distributed directly to elementary school children facing food insecurity.
“This partnership removes a major barrier for hunters,” said Don Higgins. “It turns responsible herd management into something that directly benefits families and communities while eliminating waste.”
Why Chasing Giants Got Involved
For Chasing Giants, the partnership aligns naturally with its long-standing focus on habitat management, herd health, and ethical hunting practices.
“We spend our lives teaching landowners how to manage deer numbers and habitat correctly,” said Terry Peer. “Boone Brothers connects those principles to a bigger purpose, where conservation and community impact work together.”
