Buck Knives Joins Boone and Crockett Club as Silver Trailblazer in Conservation

Missoula, MT – [May 22, 2025]— The Boone and Crockett Club is proud to welcome Buck Knives as a Silver Trailblazer in Conservation partner, further strengthening efforts to promote wildlife conservation, ethical hunting practices, and sustainable resource management. This partnership reflects Buck Knives’ dedication to supporting the Club’s historic mission and its Trailblazers in Conservation program, which unites leaders committed to addressing today’s conservation challenges.

“Buck Knives joining our Trailblazers in Conservation program reflects a shared commitment to the values that sustain wildlife and wild places,” said Tony Schoonen, Chief Executive Officer of the Boone and Crockett Club. “Their support not only strengthens our conservation efforts but also inspires ethical hunting practices and sustainable resource management for generations to come.”

In addition to its mission support, Buck Knives is returning as the Jack Steele Parker Generation Next Youth Awards presenting sponsor at the 32nd Triennial Big Game Awards that will be held in July. The event honors young hunters (ages 16 and under) who have had an animal accepted into the Boone and Crockett Club’s Records of North American Big Game from 2022 to 2024. The Generation Next banquet, presented by Buck Knives, will be emceed by Buck Knives’ CEO CJ Buck with a keynote address by Into High Country’s Jason Matzinger. This year more than 40 youth will be recognized at the banquet, which will be held in the ballroom of the White River Conference Center in Springfield, Missouri the evening of July 25, 2025. “The Boone and Crockett Club has been the leading voice and advocate for wildlife and habitat restoration for more than a century and we at Buck Knives are deeply committed to supporting this proven system of conservation,” noted CJ Buck, CEO of Buck Knives and a regular member of the Boone and Crockett Club. “We are happy to once again be a Trailblazer sponsor of B&C and to support young hunters through the Generation Next Awards.”

Since its founding by Theodore Roosevelt in 1887 the Boone and Crockett Club and its members led the development of policies that protected federal public lands, developed the frameworks of modern game laws, funded conservation efforts, and reinforced the vision of sustainable use of our natural resources. Throughout its history, these accomplishments have been supported through strategic partnerships with state and federal agencies, policy makers, other non-governmental hunter-conservationist organizations, universities, and business and industry. The Boone and Crockett Club’s Trailblazers in Conservation partnership program aims to help today’s hunting community rise to the challenges of a changing world. Becoming a Trailblazer in Conservation shows the commitment from industry partners and others to support the mutual interests of scientific wildlife management, hunter ethics, and conservation advocacy.

About Buck Knives

A young Kansas blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck was looking for a better way to temper steel so it would hold an edge longer. His unique approach produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt made each knife by hand, using worn-out file blades as raw material. In 1964, the knife industry was revolutionized with the introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter, making Buck Knives a leader in the field. A position we hold proudly today. CJ Buck, the 4th generation family member to run Buck Knives and current CEO, President, and Chairman, started out with the company on the production line in 1978. He has been quoted saying, “We have been helping people thrive with reliable and trustworthy edged products for over a century. Since our own name is on the knife, our quality, focus, and attention to detail is very personal.”
