Why We Carry: Newspaper Delivery Worker Threatened With Gun, Suspects Arrested With Drugs And Illegal Gun

Bethlehem Police arrested two Glenmont residents on October 30th after a confrontation with a newspaper delivery worker and subsequent search led to the discovery of drugs and firearms. One suspect remains in custody, while the other has been released under probation supervision.

BETHLEHEM, NY (2-minute read) — Bethlehem Police arrested Benjamin M. Shore, 34, and Kevon Julien, 39, both of Glenmont, NY, on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, following an armed confrontation and a drug and weapons investigation.

At approximately 12:24 a.m., police were called to Winnie Place in Glenmont after a newspaper delivery worker reported being confronted at gunpoint by Shore. The delivery person stated Shore accused him of attempting to rob his apartment and brandished a loaded pistol during the confrontation. Fortunately, the delivery worker was unharmed and was able to report the incident to authorities.

Following the encounter, Bethlehem Police officers swiftly located Shore and took him into custody. The Albany County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Response Team then conducted a thorough search of Shore’s apartment, which he shared with his roommate, Kevon Julien. Upon securing a search warrant, investigators uncovered significant amounts of cash, drugs, and a stolen firearm.

As a result of the investigation, both Shore and Julien were charged with multiple serious felonies. Shore faces charges including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with Intent to Sell, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Sell, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and possession of stolen property in connection with the firearm. Additionally, Shore was identified as a fugitive from Virginia, adding to his legal troubles. Julien, also implicated, faces similar drug-related charges, along with possession of a stolen firearm.

After their arraignment in Bethlehem Town Court, Julien was released under Albany County Probation supervision, while Shore remains held at the Albany County Correctional Facility. Their next court appearance is scheduled for November 19, 2024.

Safety Tip: If you witness or experience a confrontation involving a firearm, remove yourself from the situation immediately if possible, and report the incident to law enforcement. Staying aware of your surroundings and avoiding escalations can help maintain safety in tense situations.
