A suspected burglar in Wells County, North Dakota, was shot by a homeowner during an attempted break-in early Friday morning. The incident is under investigation by local authorities.


HARVEY, ND (1-minute read) — Early Friday morning, a suspected burglar was shot by a homeowner during an attempted break-in in Wells County, North Dakota. According to Harvey Police, authorities were called to a residence on Brewster Street East at around 3:35 AM in response to reports of both a burglary and shots fired.

The suspect, who was on probation with the North Dakota Department of Corrections, was reportedly shot by the homeowner while attempting to break into the home. Law enforcement officers who arrived on the scene provided medical assistance until emergency services arrived. The current condition of the suspect is unknown, and no further details have been released regarding their identity or that of the homeowner.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Harvey Police Department, the Wells County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
