Weekend Open Thread: The Scrifices we make Edition.

Weekend Open Thread: The Scrifices we make Edition.

Hey there everybody, you have made it to Friday. Reward yourself with some Meme Time.

Anyone have any big plans for Father’s Day? I am still recovering from Blade Show. I will probably watch some golf in the hammock on Sunday afternoon.

I am behind pulling the Open Thread together. There was a mini-event at Smoky Mountain Knife Works today, and my daughter and I swung by to visit with ZacintheWild, BestDamnEDC (Taylor & Rikki), and a couple of others. Zac is on a post blade show road trip doing a promotion with Work Sharp.

He also has his first knife design coming out from Civivi this fall. The prototype was entered into consideration and won a Blade Show award..

The Yonder looks like a great EDC. I finally got to handle the one that Zac was carrying, since I never crossed paths with him at the Show.

The gentleman to Zac’s right is Taylor Martin, who runs Best Damn EDC on Youtube. I had met him at the TopGolf/WE event at last year’s Blade Show. I have shared his stuff before on the NewsFeed.

I wasn’t planning on spending all morning at SMKW, so I am running a bit behind on the WOT. But no bother.

I am not even sure what we are having for dinner, but I will probably cook.

My wife pays the credit card, and is the family primary breadwinner. But I have to sit in school pickup line. She prefers work.

She is still banned from my box fort though.

Such a touching moment. As is this…

The waiter makes you take the fly out of your own soup.

Winning…

Endorsed…

Jody Plauche was justified.

The gift that keeps on giving…

Looking at the KNIFE Magazine Events Calendar, there was a show during the week in NY, but it is over.

Next week:

AIK’s Knife Show

Tonight’s musical guest are the Rolling Stones. So, Stuart can’t stand the Beatles, likes Zeppelin, and I am dying to know how he feels about Mick and the boys.

My two favorite Stones songs are Under my Thumb and Gimme Shelter. Neither is one that makes most peoples’ Top 5.

In other, non-themed current events and other WOT throwbacks, it’s pride month y’all…

Wilford Brimley was the theme 2 weeks ago…

I hate the Metric System…

What’s wrong with that?

Better than being a furry.

Greatest pitcher I ever saw in person.

Finally for this section, the last SpaceX launch, which was a success, had a flap break loose, setting itself, and the internet ablaze…

Elon got in on the act…

The original, dog-themed version of this meme always makes me tear up.

As promised, tonight we are giving away a swag package of stuff I picked up at Blade Show. Congrats to Del. I will send it along to the Great White North this week.

Our next drawing will be for a CRKT Drifter. Nothing earthshaking, but a well made liner lock EDC.

Usual rules apply, up to 5 comments or replies are your entries, and if you are new to the blog your comments count double. They will be held back in moderation until I can approve the first batch.  After that you are good to go. Good luck everyone.

On to our random meme selection of the week.

I like altered memes. It shows they are a living art form,,,

Just because you aren’t paranoid, doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you…

You will be assimilated…Deliciously…

This isn’t good…

Relatable…

Story of my life…

That wins my memes this week, though this is pretty good…

Paddle faster…

This is why…

I prefer this…

Good advice.

I have questions…

Stonewall Jackson really utilized his close air support well.

If you don’t, the baby defeats you.

Even harder to defeat than a baby.

Gets you in the Telltale Heartstrings.

Some heroes don’t wear capes.

Some wear the uniform of the IDF…

As I have every weekend since October 7th, I am using my platform to push back against the dominant media narrative that is supporting Hamas.

Why do I do this? Because I never imagined I would see garbage like this in our country…

I don’t have a huge platform, but I will not be silent. I will not retire this section of the WOT until Israel declares victory over Hamas.

It isn’t even a grey area to me.

Once again, the Rolling Stones….

Gimme Shelter is not one of their most popular songs, but it definitely highlights their incredible musicianship. Paul McCartney once referred to the Stones as “a blues cover band”. I cannot disagree more. Charlie was a human metronome, and Keith Richards is one of the most underrated rock guitarists of all time.

I didn’t choose the Stones based on my memes this week, I am just that good…

Consider yourself warned…

Have a good one everybody. Happy Father’s day to those to whom it applies.
