Illegal Immigrant, Known As A ‘Migrant Influencer’, Facing Federal Firearm Charges

Leonel Moreno, known for his controversial online presence as a “migrant influencer” who ridiculed America and encouraged illegal squatting, is under scrutiny for potential federal firearms charges, according to The Post. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), in discussions with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is considering legal action against Moreno, primarily for violating a Gun Control Act section that forbids parolees from handling firearms or ammunition. Moreno, who entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 but remained under a parole program, was arrested in Columbus, Ohio, for missing check-ins and for his provocative posts online.

John Fabbricatore, a former ICE official, highlighted the gravity of the possible charges, indicating they could prolong Moreno’s detention. The ATF’s actions would necessitate a judicial mandate for Moreno’s court appearance, transitioning him to U.S. Marshals’ custody. Moreno’s arrest and the potential charges underscore federal efforts to address illegal firearm possession among non-citizens.

Despite Moreno’s social media display of firearms and claims of government assistance, it’s unclear if he purchased a firearm or if any were found upon his arrest. The case raises concerns due to Moreno’s suggestions for illegal activities and misuse of firearms, with law enforcement not confirming details of ongoing investigations.

ICE has detailed Moreno’s illegal entry and failure to comply with check-in requirements, highlighting the broader issues of immigration compliance and public safety.
