Chestnut Hill Outdoors Online Ordering is Now Available

Spring planting season is near, and online ordering is now open for various hard and soft mast trees and shrubs from Chestnut Hill Outdoors. From pears and persimmons to chestnuts and chestnut oak, they have a full range of mast orchard stock ready for planting at the proper time.

Chestnut Hill Outdoors ships at the optimal time for planting per USDA zone. The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map divides the nation into 10-degree F zones based on average annual minimum winter temperatures. These Zones or Regions are then used to describe the range in which plants are adapted and will be most productive. To ensure proper selection, Chestnut Hill Outdoors lists these Zones for each of their products, and they check every order to ensure the selected species are appropriate for their destination.

Shipping schedule:

Plant Zones 9-8: Late January-February

Plant Zones 8-7: February-March

Plant Zones 6-5: April- early May

For spring, Chestnut Hill Outdoors ships bare-root dormant trees. They go to great lengths to ensure customers receive healthy stock, but it is ultimately up to recipients to follow proper planting instructions if they want to maximize plant growth. This involves several steps, including site selection, site preparation, tree spacing, and staking and tubing if necessary. Detailed instructions on all of the above and more are available in the Learning Center at ChestnutHillOutdoors.com.

Purchasing and planting mast-producing trees and shrubs to attract deer represents an investment of time, money, and effort. By carefully selecting varieties best suited to the local climate where they will be planted, landowners can maximize plant productivity so they and the wildlife they feed receive a greater return on that investment.

Chestnut Hill Outdoors is more than just a nursery. In order to ensure customers receive the maximum benefit from their products, they also provide sound advice and instruction on proper planting and care. They double-check all orders to ensure the plants they ship are suited to the regional climate of their destination.
