Authorities said one man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. He was airlifted to a regional trauma center for treatment. Investigators are currently speaking with him as part of the ongoing investigation.

A second man who was at the scene and is believed to be the shooter was detained by deputies for questioning.

According to the sheriff’s office, statements from the man and evidence found at the scene appear to be consistent with self-defense at this time. Officials have not announced any charges.

Cases like this often highlight how quickly violent encounters can unfold and why many Americans choose to exercise their right to keep and bear arms for personal protection.

The Second Amendment recognizes the right of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves when faced with a serious threat. When investigators determine that a person’s actions were consistent with self-defense, it reinforces the long recognized principle that individuals have the right to protect their own lives when confronted with danger.
