The brand welcomes polar explorer John Huston as new outdoor, tactical brand ambassador.
Red Lodge, Mont. (Jan. 21, 2026) –Crazy Creek Products, the originators of the legless camp chair and trusted innovators in outdoor seating, is expanding its legacy into the hunting, tactical, and military-adjacent field markets with the Hex Series, a packable, ground-based field chair built for long days on unforgiving terrain. The expansion also includes the addition of renowned polar explorer and expeditionary consultant John Huston as a brand ambassador.
Founded in the backcountry of Montana, Crazy Creek has spent more than three decades building simple, dependable seating in the outdoors. For almost 40 years, people have been relying on Crazy Creek chairs to provide stable back support without fragile legs, hinges, or mechanical failure points. That same trusted design now aims to serve the needs of hunters, field operators, and tactical users facing extended sits on uneven ground.
Different mission, same problem: long days outside, uneven terrain, and a body that performs better when it’s not fighting for comfort. The Hex series addresses that problem with a lightweight, fast-deploying, roll-tight design that stays put on slopes and rugged surfaces, helping users remain comfortable and focused during long periods in the field.
The Hex Original rolls down to just four inches in diameter, weighs only 20 ounces, and easily stows in or on a pack. Constructed with carbon-reinforced fiberglass stays, water-resistant materials, and Crazy Creek’s proven stitching process, the Hex is designed to withstand repeated field use. The series also includes the LongBack, wider and taller for added support, and the PowerLounger, which adds a third panel for extended comfort or use as a sleeping pad. All Hex series chairs are backed by Crazy Creek’s lifetime warranty.
Further reinforcing the brand’s alignment with serious field use, Crazy Creek has named John Huston as its outdoor and tactical brand ambassador. Huston is a veteran polar explorer with more than 20 years of experience leading expeditions in the world’s harshest environments. In 2009, Huston and his expedition partner completed the first successful unsupported American expedition to the North Pole in 55 days, completing 475 miles by ski. He has most recently served as a subject matter expert, trainer, and expeditionary consultant to U.S., Canadian, and Norwegian special operations forces units.
“The Crazy Creek Hex has been my trusted companion in the field for as long as I can remember. It is comfortable, durable, lightweight, and super useful,” says Huston. “It is an essential piece of my kit. A Crazy Creek improves performance out there. In the wilderness, two of the primary functional work positions are sitting and kneeling. The Hex supports both of these positions. It improves my focus and ability to rest. I take it everywhere.”
As part of its continued outreach to the tactical and hunting community, Crazy Creek will be exhibiting at SHOT Show 2026 alongside the State of Montana booth, where attendees can connect with the team, see the Hex series firsthand, and learn more about the brand. A limited show special will be available onsite.
