EDGEFIELD, S.C. — The 4th annual Wildlife Art Competition will return to this year’s 50th annual Convention and Sport Show, inviting members and volunteers from across the country to showcase their creativity through wildlife-inspired art.
“The wildlife art competition celebrates the deep connection between people and the natural world, using creativity to inspire conservation,” said Briana Alley, contest coordinator. “By showcasing the talent of artists who capture the beauty of wildlife, this competition helps raise awareness, support habitat stewardship and engage new audiences in the mission to conserve our outdoors.”
The Wildlife Art Competition has something for everybody, with four different categories to enter. The first is the Carved Artwork category, which can include any carved pieces that can also be painted, wood-burned or scrimshawed. Items for this category cannot be larger than 24 inches in height, width and depth.
The next category is a Two-Dimensional Artwork category, which will include paintings, drawings, sketches or any other flat artwork mediums. Artwork for this category cannot be larger than 36 by 36 inches.
The Multi-Medium Artwork category encompasses any piece of art that is not included in the first two categories. Artwork must be handmade and hand-painted. Artwork created by a computer or a 3D printer will not be accepted.
The final category is Youth Art, which will feature artwork from artists under age 18. Entries for this category can be any medium as long as the participant is under the age of 18. The first-place winner in this category will receive $250.
For all categories, the entered artwork must depict a wild animal in some form. Artists are limited to two entries per category, and all artwork must be original. First-place winners for the adult categories will each be awarded $1,000. All first-place winners will then compete against one another for the grand prize of $1,500 and the best of show title.
Artists should be aware that all pieces entered into this competition will be auctioned off after the competition winners have been announced.
