Streamlight TLR RM 2 Long Gun Light Delivers 1,000 Lumens

Streamlight TLR RM 2 Long Gun Light Delivers 1,000 Lumens

A weapon-mounted light can be a game changer, whether for home defense or duty-bound operational requirements. For this reason, Streamlight offers its TLR RM 2 with a 1,000-lumen output and optional red or green laser models. Likewise, featuring the new HPL (High Performance, High Lumen) face cap, the light delivers 22,000 candela for a 297-meter beam.

The Streamlight TLR RM 2 Rail Mount Weapon Light

Constructed of durable 6000 Series machined aircraft aluminum, the light includes a black Type II Mil-Spec anodized finish. In addition, the light-only model has an IPX7 waterproof rating, allowing it to operate after submersion in one meter of water for 30 minutes. Similarly, the laser models have an IPX4 water-resistant rating for use in inclement conditions.

Utilizing a Picatinny mount, the TLR RM 2 light easily mounts to the rail of many rifle platforms. Correspondingly, the light-only model weighs 4.68 ounces, while the light/laser models come in at 5.11 ounces. As a result, the light adds little to the overall handling and operation of your rifle platform.

The TLR RM 2 operates via a tactical tail switch, positioned for easy access from a natural grip. Although it can be purchased as a stand-alone light, it’s typically packaged as a system with a remote pressure switch. The remote switch is designed to exit the port at a 90º angle to allow for improved cable routing.

Available as a stand-alone light or with a red or green laser, the TLR RM 2 delivers 1,000 lumens of steady or strobing light. Likewise, the new HPL face cap increases the candelas to 22,000 for a 297-meter beam. The laser models include a switch on the side to toggle between light only, laser only, or light/laser.

In addition, the laser models are adjustable for windage and elevation via side-mounted adjustment points.

The TLR RM 2 operates on two CR123A lithium batteries, which are included with the system. Operation times are 1.5 hours for LED only or LED/Laser (for equipped models) and 3 hours on strobe. Similarly, laser models operate in laser mode only for 60 hours (red laser) and 11 hours (green laser). Likewise, the face cap offers a safe-off mode to prevent unintentional activation.

Editor’s Note

I recently installed the TLR RM 2 with green laser on my personal AR. Although my rail utilizes M-Lok, I just added a Magpul Picatinny rail section, and the light popped right on. Additionally, the pressure switch came with a tape strip that holds very securely to the side of my rail. It would take some work for it to come off.

Adjusting the laser was very easy. The adjustments are smooth and continual, as opposed to MOA clicks. It was a bit of a surprise at first because I was expecting the clicks, but it worked very well.

Correspondingly, the green laser is bright and easy to see, even in daylight conditions. Likewise, the light is extremely bright with good peripherals, completely engulfing the rooms in my house with bright light for positive target identification. Accessing the side switch to cycle through the light, laser, and light/laser settings was very intuitive and didn’t require visual confirmation.

Personally, I really like the light’s low profile, as it hugs the rail of my rifle. It not only keeps my rifle profile sleek but also reduces the risk of snagging on objects.

Availability

The Streamlight TLR RM 2 is available now, with MSRPs of $252.00 – $573.00 (depending on model and options). For more info, please visit Streamlight.com.

“The addition of the HPL face cap to these models results in high-lumen lights that also deliver a powerful beam with an extensive range and solid peripheral coverage,” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah.

“Their ability to put more light on a target at a distance makes them powerful tools for law enforcement professionals, military personnel, hunting and shooting enthusiasts, and others when operating under low-light conditions. And the models with integrated red and green aiming lasers help to improve focusing on targets before taking any action.”
