The incident, which took place around 5:10 p.m., is suspected to be a case of murder-suicide. On arrival, law enforcement from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office discovered two people with gunshot injuries. The alleged shooter was found dead on the premises, while the second individual succumbed to their injuries after being transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

The person believed to have committed the shooting previously worked at the veterinary hospital, as per information from the sheriff’s office. There are indications that a social media post made before the event might be linked to this violent incident, which can be viewed below.

In the midst of the chaos, a mother named Gale Hanscom received a distressing text from her daughter, an employee at the hospital, who had taken shelter in a closet. Her daughter later revealed that she overheard an argument involving the former employee and a doctor, followed by six gunshots. Displaying courage under such tense circumstances, she promptly dialed 911. Expressing her relief at reuniting with her daughter, Hanscom praised her child’s quick thinking and bravery.

Authorities have reported that investigations related to the event are still underway.
