Tulsa Homeowner Fatally Shoots Attacker, Injures Another After Group Assault

TULSA, OK — On the evening of September 3, 2024, a homeowner acted in self-defense, fatally shooting one individual and critically injuring another after being attacked by a group near 2700 North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

At around 7:00 p.m., Tulsa police responded to a report of a shooting and discovered Marco Richardson deceased in the driveway, suffering from a gunshot wound. Another individual, who was also shot, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

According to the investigation, a feud had been ongoing between the homeowner and several of his neighbors. On the day of the incident, a group of five individuals, including Richardson, confronted and rushed the homeowner, pinning him against a car and physically assaulting him. In response, the homeowner retrieved a pistol and fired at the assailants, hitting Richardson and another attacker. The remaining individuals fled the scene before police arrived.

The homeowner immediately cooperated with law enforcement, surrendering his firearm and giving a full statement to investigators. Based on the evidence and witness accounts, no charges have been filed against him at this time. The case remains under investigation and will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office before a final determination is made.

This incident highlights the importance of being prepared to defend oneself when faced with an imminent threat. In situations where you are physically outnumbered or pinned, as in this case, having access to your firearm and knowing how to use it properly can be critical to survival. Always ensure that you are legally carrying your weapon, and be aware of your state’s self-defense laws to ensure your actions are justified.
