CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A confrontation between tow truck drivers escalated into gunfire, leading to charges of attempted murder against 33-year-old David Soto. The incident occurred on January 31st when Soto, already on felony pretrial release for a different case, got into an argument with two other tow truck drivers over a job in the 4600 block of West Harrison.
After leaving briefly, Soto returned and started shooting at the drivers, hitting a 58-year-old man in the arm. In self-defense, the other drivers, who were licensed to carry concealed firearms, returned fire, critically injuring Soto.
Soto fled but was later found at Loyola University Medical Center. He is a known member of the Satan Disciple street gang, as per Chicago Police Department reports. Due to his hospitalization, Judge Maryam Ahmad couldn’t detain him at the initial hearing.
Soto is also facing another legal battle, awaiting a bench trial for two counts of aggravated fleeing from Berwyn police, for which he had posted bail last year.
