Priceville Police Arrest Suspects in Gun Store Burglary; All Stolen Firearms Recovered

PRICEVILLE, AL — Authorities have apprehended multiple suspects and recovered stolen firearms following a burglary at Tucker’s Guns & Ammo early Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred at approximately 3:00 AM, saw two individuals forcibly enter the store in the 600 block of Highway 67 and steal multiple firearms before fleeing in what appeared to be a dark-colored SUV.

Investigation and Arrests

The Priceville Police Department, working alongside Decatur Police Department, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, and ATF agents, swiftly identified the suspects involved. Among them was 19-year-old Maki William Burt of Decatur, who has been charged with second-degree burglary and is being held on a $10,000 bond. Additionally, three juveniles were implicated in the crime, with their identities withheld due to their ages.

In a significant development, a fourth suspect—a 16-year-old juvenile—was taken into custody as of Monday afternoon. This coordinated effort underscores the collaborative work between local, county, and federal agencies.

Stolen Firearms Recovered

All five firearms stolen during the burglary have been successfully recovered, providing relief to the Priceville community and ensuring that these weapons are no longer at risk of misuse. The recovery comes as a result of diligent investigative work and cooperation among law enforcement entities.

Community Support and Ongoing Investigation

The Priceville Police Department expressed gratitude to the agencies involved, as well as a dispatcher from Morgan County 911 whose investigative skills were instrumental in resolving the case. While the arrests mark significant progress, the investigation remains ongoing, with additional charges anticipated for those involved.

Self-Defense Tip

This incident highlights the importance of secure storage for firearms, especially in gun stores and private residences. Ensuring firearms are locked in a high-quality safe or secured with anti-theft devices can deter theft and reduce the risk of illegal use. Owners should also consider implementing advanced security systems with surveillance to protect their investments and enhance community safety.

Local residents with additional information about this case are encouraged to contact the Priceville Police Department at 256-355-5476.
