Man With Hammer Fatally Shot By Homeowner After Attempted Intrusion

TRENTON, NEW JERSEY — A homeowner fatally shot a man identified as 34-year-old Andray Ingram, according to police reports. The incident occurred late Sunday evening on Bert Avenue, drawing law enforcement to the scene around 10:25 p.m. due to reports of gunfire.

Nearby detectives discovered Ingram on St. Francis Avenue, suffering from a chest gunshot wound, and rushed him to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that the homeowner had discharged several rounds at Ingram, who was allegedly wielding a hammer, banging on the front door, and damaging a Ring camera, before entering the home’s vestibule.

Police say that no charges have been filed, but authorities continue to look into the matter.
