Man Armed With Hammer And Trying To Upgrade, Is Shot Dead While Attempting To Rob Gun Store

LIVERMORE, CALIFORNIA — A robbery attempt at a Livermore gun store ended fatally when the shop’s owner shot a man who allegedly tried to steal a firearm while armed with a hammer. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. at East Bay Firearms on First Street.

The assailant, a 28-year-old from Redwood City, was found with at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on-site. He was dressed in a mask, hoodie, and gloves at the time of the incident.

Authorities believe the shop owner acted in self-defense and isn’t currently facing any charges. Five other patrons were present during the event but remained unharmed.

The Livermore Police are seeking additional information and have provided an anonymous tip line at 925-371-4790.
