Homeowner Shoots Intruder During Second Burglary After Firearms Stolen in First Break-In

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, OH — Authorities are investigating a series of events surrounding an aggravated burglary and shooting incident that unfolded over two days in Harrison Township, located in Montgomery County.

On Monday, September 23, 2024, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a home in the 5500 block of Brantford Road after the homeowner reported a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the homeowner informed deputies that multiple firearms had been stolen from the residence.

The following day, on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, deputies were called back to the same location after receiving reports of a shooting. According to the homeowner, two male suspects had entered his home again. During the confrontation, shots were fired, causing the suspects to flee on foot.

Authorities responding to the scene were able to locate two individuals nearby, one of whom was suffering from a gunshot wound. The injured suspect was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Upon his release from the hospital, the suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

As the investigation progressed, deputies were able to identify additional suspects involved in the burglary. Search warrants were executed at multiple locations in Trotwood, leading to the recovery of a vehicle believed to be connected to the crime and the detention of several individuals. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit is continuing to work on the case.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of securing firearms to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands during a burglary.
