Gunfire from Mexico Targets U.S. Border Agents in El Paso Incident

EL PASO, TX (3-minute read) – U.S. Border Patrol agents were the targets of gunfire from gunmen located in Mexico, as confirmed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The incident occurred on a Wednesday afternoon in the El Paso, Texas sector. The agents were engaged in a “use of force incident” while responding to reports of shots fired near the Ysleta Station.

According to the FBI, the exchange took place near the Ysleta USBP Station – Lopez Gate, and their agents are actively investigating this as an “assault on federal agents.” The FBI’s El Paso Violent Crime Task Force, alongside the Evidence Recovery Team, were dispatched to gather evidence from the scene.

No injuries were reported among the CBP agents involved in this incident, and the matter is currently under review by the Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility.

This event underscores the volatile nature of border security operations and the dangers faced by federal agents who patrol these critical areas.
