Florida’s First-Ever Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday Underway Through 2025

PLANT CITY, FL — Florida’s first-ever Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday is officially underway and will continue through December 31, 2025. Governor Ron DeSantis announced the tax holiday Monday, giving Floridians nearly four months to save on firearms, ammunition, hunting gear, and outdoor supplies.

“We’re committed to helping Floridians keep more of their hard-earned money, and the Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday is one way to do that,” DeSantis said during the announcement. “Florida is a great state for outdoor adventure and exercising your Second Amendment rights, and we’re working to keep it that way.”

Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins emphasized the broader cultural impact. “This 2nd Amendment Sales Tax Holiday delivers real tax relief for families and ensures Floridians can pass down our values to the next generation,” Collins said.

The tax holiday covers firearms, ammunition, bows, crossbows, and accessories such as holsters, cleaning kits, grips, and sights. It also applies to outdoor and sportsman items, including camping stoves under $50, tents under $200, rods and reels under $75, and bait and tackle under $10.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Chairman Rodney Barreto praised the initiative. “We appreciate Governor DeSantis’ steadfast commitment to these tax-saving measures that benefit all Floridians,” Barreto said. “I want to encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy the outdoors.”

Along with tax-free shopping, Floridians will see reduced and free access to public shooting ranges on select dates. Half-priced passes will be offered this fall at ranges in Lakeland, Panama City Beach, St. Cloud, and West Palm Beach. On November 9, in honor of Veterans Day, all veterans will receive free range passes statewide.

Florida will also commemorate America’s upcoming 250th anniversary by discounting the state’s Gold sportsman license, cutting the price from $500 to $250.

The sales tax holiday is part of a $2 billion tax relief package for Fiscal Year 2025–26, including $450 million in targeted sales tax holidays that support Florida families and residents.
