Elderly Woman Fatally Shoots Home Invader, Suffers Injuries And Is Taken To Hospital

BINGHAM COUNTY, IDAHO — On Wednesday, in the Rose area north of Blackfoot, an elderly woman defended herself during a home invasion by fatally shooting the male intruder. The incident took place around noon at her home on 134 West 600 North. The homeowner was injured during the confrontation and subsequently hospitalized but is expected to recover.

The male suspect was deceased by the time deputies arrived, prompted by a 911 call. Authorities have yet to release the names of those involved.

The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office has secured the scene and advised the public to avoid the area, emphasizing the event appears to be an isolated one with no ongoing threat to community safety.

The investigation continues, and the Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information to come forward.
