Armed Woman Stops Road Rage Attacker in Houston | Caught on Camera

HOUSTON, TX — A road rage incident on the morning of February 13 escalated into an assault, prompting a female driver to defend herself with a firearm. The confrontation occurred around 8:45 a.m. near Aldine Westfield Road and Old Cypresswood Drive, according to the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

Authorities say the male suspect exited his vehicle and approached the woman, who was still inside her car. He then allegedly began assaulting her through the driver’s side window. During the attack, the woman retrieved her handgun and fired a single shot, causing the assailant to release her and quickly retreat.

Surveillance footage, though blurry, appears to capture the moment the man approached the woman’s vehicle, followed by his sudden movement away and fall—presumably the moment the shot was fired. The suspect then got back into his car and fled the scene.

Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s office later located and arrested the suspect. Police released booking photos of the man, one of which shows him smiling—an unusual reaction given the circumstances of his arrest.

Self-Defense and Road Rage Prevention

This incident is a reminder that road rage can turn violent in an instant. While avoiding confrontation is always the best strategy, that’s not always possible—especially when someone is willing to exit their vehicle and attack another driver. In this case, the woman did what was necessary to protect herself from harm.

For armed citizens, it’s crucial to remember that carrying a firearm is not about ego or escalating a situation—it’s about having the ability to defend oneself when no other options remain. The best way to handle road rage is to avoid engaging with aggressive drivers in the first place. Stay calm, avoid eye contact, and if necessary, drive to a public place or police station rather than stopping. For additional safety tips, check out our full guide on road rage prevention here.

Thankfully, this woman was able to stop the attack without serious injury. The suspect is now in custody, and authorities continue to investigate the case.
