60-Year-Old Concealed Carrier Fatally Shoots Armed Robbery Suspect At ATM In Chicago

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — In the Auburn Gresham neighborhood of Chicago on Friday morning, a robbery attempt escalated into a fatal shootout. Around 5:30 a.m., a 60-year-old man using an ATM on West 82nd Street was confronted by an armed man on a bicycle demanding his belongings. The intended victim, who legally possessed a firearm, engaged in a gunfight with the assailant.

The robber, whose identity remains undisclosed, was struck multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries at Christ Hospital. The incident also extended to a nearby Marathon gas station on 81st and Ashland, where the victim sought assistance following the exchange.

The victim, sustaining injuries to his back and left arm, was also hospitalized at Christ Hospital but is in stable condition. Police recovered two firearms from the scene and are actively investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
